Dear Folks,
Well, I got back O.K. Sat. A.M. and got settled in the old routine. As yet I am still not assigned to anything definite, but ma by any day now.
I went to Fall River, Mass. on liberty last nite on liberty and had a pretty good time. Its about 16 miles from Newport and takes about 45 minutes by bus. As it stands now, I should rate the weekend, but nothing is positive up here, so don't count on it too much
I still haven't heard any definite dope on what happened to the "Witter" but on the train coming up here I talked to a couple of "Waves" who worked in the Bureau of Personell in Washington. They told me that they had received several casualty reports from her but didn't know anything. I am going to write to a couple of shipmates on the "witter" and see if they can tell me anything.
Thats about all for now, so I hope to see you this week-end but as I said before don't count on it.
With all my love,
Paul
